Pink Commuter iPod Tie ipod_tie.jpgIf you’re looking for a convenient place to carry that iPod nano, the Pink Commuter tie is for you, that is, if you don’t mind looking slightly fey wearing pink. Actually, this 100% silk tie is available in red and navy for metrosexuals, in addition to pink for all you others. The tie has a special loop that keeps all those wires in check, and it looks like you could run the wires up behind your tie and underneath the collar of your shirt, discreetly poking out the back on their way to your earbuds. So if you’re forced to wear that coat-and-tie monkey suit all day, might as well take advantage of it with a great place to hide your tunes. From Thomas Pink for $85.

Burnside_2"Eh?" I hear you cry. And you're right to - a phone that looks like a landline but is actually a mobile phone is crazy talk, even more crazy than yesterday's BT landline that looked like a mobile phone. If you're feeling faintly confused, it's not just the fault of my clunky sentence structures (although that plays its part). The Burnside Desktop Mobile Phone is a home phone that uses a SIM card and mobile service provider to make calls. Stick in your SIM and you'll be able to make the most of your cheap tariff, making calls and typing up text messages. Great idea for anyone who doesn't want a fixed landline - especially if you've got a good cheap mobile phone deal. It's just a shame they made the phone look so dull - surely something similar to the Zenith Flip Phone would have been more suitable (and desirable)? You can pick one up for around £175 (ouch!).Burnside Telecom

Electrolux want you to be proud of your appliances, match them to your decor, and not hide them away in cellars or garages. Google yesterday rolled out a new web page creation tool which promises to bring ease of use to creating simple homepages. The Google Page Creator is up now and running in beta, though sign-ups are limited right now due to demand.
The Google Page Creator, the web search company explained, allows users to edit and create pages just as they appear online, without needing to know HTML. No software downloads are necessary to create pages as the entire process is browser based. Users are required to have a Gmail account to participate and space restrictions provide only 100MB of storage for pages and uploaded files.
Features of the Google Page Creator allow users to add and change the size and style of text, add links and insert photos. Additionally, various different looks of pages are available. This product offering is different then Google’s more advanced Blogger platform.

It hasn't even been a month and a half and already Toshiba's upgraded the Qosmio G30 we saw launched at CES with their new Qosmio G35-AV600. It's still got the Intel Core Duo and a nice 1440 x 900 widescreen with nVidia GeForce Go 73000 graphics, dual SATA drives, dual-layer DVD burner, a gig of DDR2 SDRAM, media adapter, and all the rest -- but now includes higher end media features like a 1-bit digital amplifier (which they're claiming is the first found in a laptop), Dolby Home Theater certification, and harman/kardon's Bass Reflex Speaker technology. You're gonna pay $2,399 for the privilege though, so we hope you like your media well done, kid.

World of Warcraft Teaches the Wrong Things?
Gamasutra has a 'Soap Box' editorial up discussing the bad lessons World of Warcraft teaches. From the article: "1. Investing a lot of time in something is worth more than actual skill. If you invest more time than someone else, you "deserve" rewards. People who invest less time "do not deserve" rewards. This is an absurd lesson that has no connection to anything I do in the real world. The user interface artist we have at work can create 10 times more value than an artist of average skill, even if the lesser artist works way, way more hours. The same is true of our star programmer. The very idea that time > skill is alien."

A Report on Swearing in Online Games
A Next Generation article references an informal study done on the frequency of swearing on Xbox Live. From the study: "When you logon to Xbox live more often then not you will be greeted by a 14 year old that learned a new word on the playground that day, or maybe it's the drunken 24 year old who hates black people, gays and anyone who isn't in his frat. No matter who you are if you have played on live you have run into cursing and lewdness. If you look at the rating for the game you can see that it is intended for ages 17+ but parents don't care/understand/listen so lots of underage kids have [Halo 2]." BT Zenith home phone looks like a cellphone

How long has it since you picked up your landed line phone? Or do you even have one at home? BT’s offering will blow all your current perceptions of landed line phones being boring with its Zenith home phone. The clamshell form factor Zenith features a front panel that displays info like caller ID, sends/receives SMSes, a 64k color screen inside, polyphonic ringtones, and can even store contacts from your SIM card!

The World Time Clock by Charlotte Van Der Waals is a deceptively simple idea that accomplishes its task with style and grace. There’s an unnumbered clock face on the side of this 12-sided cylinder, and you simply roll the clock over until the time zone you’re looking for is on top. The names of two cities are etched on each of the 12 sides of this unique object, which makes no mention of AM or PM, allowing it to cover all 24 of the world’s time zones. Available in two different styles and three colors for $75.

051027samsungpocketimag Ladies (and one or two gents), I think we have a projector breakthrough! Instead of one very inefficient and expensive bulb, here we have a projector which takes its light from three long-life (10,000-hour) super-bright LEDs. The brightness isn't quite as high as your average projector - but this is new stuff and it's a dinky little thing, measuring only 128 x 85 x 53mm.

So now when walking into an unfamiliar meeting room to give a presentation, you no longer need to faff about with bizarre power connectors (it can run off its own battery - pictured) or temperamental office projectors that keep asking for filter cleaning - bring along this little beauty instead. February 7, 2006 When Nicholas Negroponte drew his famous convergence Venn diagram more than three decades ago, he forecast the convergence of broadcast, telecommunications, computing, and publishing. Since then, the acceleration of this trend has been increasing and there’s no doubt the computer and telephone are in the process of morphing right now. In recent times we’ve seen many different form factors for this, with several VOIP telephone/mouse combinations and multitudinous USB and wireless VOIP handsets and now computer peripherals specialist A4 Tech has announced it will debut a new Talky multimedia keyboard with built-in VOIP handset at CEBIT in Hannover, Germany on March 9. ..
